Wednesday 31 July Leviticus 27. 14-34 Qn.2
And if the donor wishes to redeem his house, he shall add a fifth to the valuation price, and it shall be his (15): God does not take pleasure in selfish givers. A person who gave something to God of his own free will, would not think that he would receive it back as he wished. God is not pleased with the pitfalls people can make themselves. We have been listening to people who have been giving cows only verbally. There are also those who vow to contribute to this and that work, and do not put effort into honoring what they have vowed for. It is a sin that we must avoid. If we make a vow, we must keep it. And learn from the example of Jephthah (Judges 11:29-40). “Every tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the trees, is the LORD’s; it is holy to the LORD (30): Tithing has been practiced since ancient times in the Eastern world. It was not given by anyone’s will. It was calculated on every person’s gain. God wants us to share a joyful heart (Ps. 100.2-3). Advice: In our families, we should agree on offerings, thanksgiving and tithes, etc. that we offer for the service of God. Song 145 (Praises).
