Sunday 28 July Leviticus 26. 1-20 Qn.5
You shall not make idols for yourselves or erect an image or pillar,(1): This is the 2nd commandment we find in Exodus (Exodus 20.4). God alone is to be worshiped (2). He is jealous for his glory. We should always remember that the earth and all that is in it belongs to the Lord (Ps. 24.1). A man was created to live with God. If it doesn’t happen, a person finds something that can replace God in him. That is why he makes an image, clay, or any other creation and worship it, expecting it to provide a solution for his problems. Anyone who does this commits a bad sin, and is tiring himself for nothing (Isa.40.18-21; 44.12-18). And if in spite of this you will not listen to me, then I will discipline you again sevenfold for your sins,(18): God hates sin very much, that’s why God does not hesitate to punish even a Christian who commits sin. The Israelites also knew it, and they had to avoid it. Zirikana: The greatest sin the world has experienced is the sin that Satan enticed Adam and Eve to commit, causing man to be separated from God. But again, the greatest blessing a person has had is Jesus Christ, who has united us with God (Eph 2.1-6). Let us trust in him and be led by him. Song 97 (Praises).
