Friday 26 July, Leviticus 25. 1-22 Qn.2

The land shall keep a Sabbath to the LORD (2): God is beginning to prepare his people how they will behave when they arrive in the country. They will not forget to observe the Sabbath. The Sabbath reminds us that God created everything and finished it and rested on the Sabbath day. So when we finish doing what God wants us to do, we will have time to rest forever. Resting on the Sabbath brings us to the God of our salvation. You shall not wrong one another (14). God is not pleased with festivals that do not honor Him, or bring peace to others. That is why every Israelite had to cancel the debts of those who owed him some, and give freedom to his servant. What the Israelites failed to do, Jesus the son of David was able to do it, and he also made it possible for all those who believe in him (Is.11.10). Remember: verse 19, take it to heart, and let it make you always rely on God’s promise, even today there is a great problem of not finding what is needed in this life. Song 35 Salvation
