Wednesday 9th July Acts 16.1-15

July 9

Qn. 1

Paul wanted Timothy to accompany him, and he took him and circumcised him because the Jews who were in those places, for they all knew that his father was a Greek (30): For Paul’s ministry to be more approved, he had to circumcise Timothy even if his father wasn’t a Jew. This act was different from how he dealt with Titus, because he refused his circumcision for some people considered it as a requirement for salvation (Gal. 2.3, 5; Acts 15.1). In the ministry of evangelism, you need to be careful in case some people might deny salvation on basis of their culture. For instance a Rwandan lady in traditional attire might be more welcomed than another lady from a different culture. …., Come to my house and stay.”…(15): Jesus had opened this woman’s heart to pay attention to what the apostles were teaching (14), and indeed it was successful as she ended up getting baptized together with all her household.  The aim of the gospel is that whoever hears changes direction and not harden her or his heart (Heb. 4.7). Prayer Request: Pray for the evangelists that whenever they open their mouths to speak, the Lord Jesus may open the hearts of the audience.
