Wednesday 7 February John 7.53-8.1-11 Qn.1,3
Early in the morning he came again to the temple. All the people came to him, and he sat down and taught them. (8.2): Jesus used to pray in private and had time with God the Father. Even in this story, he could have gone to pray at the Mount of olives, and in the morning while teaching in the temple, some Scribes and Pharisees brought a woman they were accusing of adultery. Jesus could make good use of every opportunity he got to preach the good news. Teacher, this woman has been caught in the act of adultery (8.4): This was a dangerous trap since Moses’ Laws stated that adulterers were to be stoned to death (Deuteronomy 22.22). Jesus left the case to the accusers to start stoning the woman, and added some words that made all these people think about themselves (7). None was left to condemn her. And Jesus said “Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.” (11) Consider: Whenever God forgives you do not sin again! (8.11). Song 105 (Praises)
