Wednesday 31 January Amos 9.1-15 Qn.5

All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword (10): Some of the final visions of Amos include the destruction of sinners and the salvation of Israel. The Lord have told the Israelites earlier on that if they did not obey they would be destroyed (Deuteronomy 28.15,63). There is no doubt, those who breach the covenant and do what is wrong will receive their appropriate rewards. We, Christians of nowadays, do also commit sins but because God is full of mercy, and in his ability to foresee what was lying ahead, already sent one of the David’s descendants to die for our sins (John 3.16). In that day I will raise up the booth of David that is fallen and repair its breaches, …(11): God’s love to us is far beyond our weaknesses and our sinfulness, he will not let the sinner be destroyed; but instead always calls him or her to humility and repentance. Just as God agreed to bring back the Israelites who had been taken captive and enabled them to rebuild the destroyed city, so is he able to rescue you and save you from eternal death. Pray: Lord God give me the strength to stick to your covenant, forgive me where I have erred in your covenant with me. (Psalm 25.3). Song 15 (Praises)
