Then all the people of Israel came out, from Dan to Beersheba, including the land of Gilead, and the congregation assembled as one man to the LORD at Mizpah (1):  The cruel act of the people of Gilead who killed the wife of the Levite by raping her, enraged the Israelites, and four thousand (4,000) men with swords decided to revenge (7). Some commentators say that Gibeah was like 5 km from north of Jerusalem, whereas Ephraim was 5 km from the north-east of Jerusalem, so that Israelite men could easily walk to attack Gibeah. It was obvious that rape leave alone when it led to death was not tolerable at all among the Israelites. After the horrible sin of the men of Gibeah, the Israelites came together with a plan to avenge the people of Gibeah. As Christians we are not supposed to sin or overlook someone else’s sin. Prayer Request: Pray for people who have the habit of raping girls and women; that they may repent and get saved (Eph. 4.26).
