Wednesday 3 January John 1.29-42 Qn.3

… This is he who baptizes  with the Holy Spirit.’ (33):

John testifies that Jesus was there even before him, he calls himself the forerunner of Jesus. He preceded him on the work of baptizing, God gave him a sign that will make him know recognize Jesus Christ. That is why John calls him the lamb of God (29,36). This lamb of God was to be sacrificed to take away the sins of man against God, and then reconcile man with God. The reason for Jesus to come from heaven was to be the sacrifice that took away the sins of the people on Earth (Eph. 5.2; Heb.10.12,14). Our righteousness come from Jesus because he took away our sins. What are you seeking? (38): By hearing that Jesus was the Lamb of God, Andrew and John came to know that he was the one they had been waiting for and they followed him. When Jesus asked them of about what they were seeking for, they replied with no hesitation that they wanted to go with him (39). Consider:  When the Holy Spirit reveals Jesus to you, following him requires just believing in him. Song. 99 (Salvation)
