Wednesday 12 June Psalm 71.1-13 Qn3

June 12, 2024 - June 13, 2024

In your righteousness deliver me and rescue me; incline your ear to me, and save me! (2): In his sorrow this Psalm writer does not depend on his righteousness; that he may feel so proud and take himself as worthy of being listened to by God. He does not want to be like the Pharisee who prayed and said “God I thank you for I am not like the others who are unclean, non believers, adulterers or even this tax collector. In seven days I fast two days, I pay tithe on what I have gained (Luke 18.11-12). But this psalm writer relies on God’s mercy and righteousness. I have been as a portent to many, but you are my strong refuge (7): The sadness of this Psalm writer made a lot of people pay attention to him and gossip about him. The good thing to him is that all of these mean nothing and do not take him away from God. What matters to him is to stay attached to God. Let’s invest our time in listening to what God tells us rather than what people say about us. Song 107 (Praises)
