Wednesday 11th June Acts 12.1-11
Qn. 1, 3
So Peter was kept in prison, but earnest prayer for him was made to God by the church (5): The Apostles and other believers were constantly persecuted but they never gave in. After the murder of James, Herod delivered Peter over to squads with an intention to kill him later on (1-4). The church kept making to God an earnest prayer for him. Prayer and reading the word of God were two things that characterized the early church, and because of these, it remained strong and could achieve a lot. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working (James 5.16b). “Now I am sure that the Lord has sent his angel (11a): Peter while guarded by squads all around him, and in chains, when the angel came to him, the squads did not realize that, and the chains got loosened. This indicates the power of God. When God opens no one can close, and when he closes no one can open (Rev. 3.7). Consider: God knows well all about your life, and in your problems, he is always ready to intervene accordingly. Song 70 (Praises).
