…If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink (37). Similar words can be found in John 4.10. Jesus said these words in reference to the Holy Spirit as John explained in verse 39. John makes it clear that the water will be found only by those who believe in Jesus, because the Holy Spirit cannot enter and work in the life of someone who does not believe in Jesus. The officers answered, “No one ever spoke like this man!” (46): The officers sent to arrest Jesus listened to him and returned without arresting him. Nicodemus might have been changed by the conversation he had with Jesus, and he is now defending him (3.1-2). Those who believe in Jesus the King and have been named after him, must act and speak like him (46). This would not be possible unless we get fully committed and decide to walk with Jesus day by day.
