Tuesday 29th July Judges 19.16-30

July 29

Qn. 3

…, But no one has taken me into his house (18): A Levite who refused to be hosted by Gentiles could not get accommodation among the so-called his close relatives. It’s very sad to lack a person when you really need one. Imagine being rejected by people whom you are not related, those with whom you don’t go to the same church, the ones with whom you go to the same church and even your siblings, when you actually needed someone. Our Lord is a very present help in trouble (Ps. 46.2). Even if the inhabitants of the land were stubborn people, there was an old alien who was welcoming, and who offered to host the Levite who was bringing his wife back home (20). Praise God that he gets us someone when we are in need of a person. …, The men of the city, worthless fellows,…(22): Worthless fellows are known in several places in the Bible, even in Sodom and Gomorrah, there arose some (Gen. 19.5; 1 Kings 21.23). The New Testament also shows such kinds of people, and probably even today. Let’s watch out that we don’t appear among such. Prayer: Lord God, loving Father, please do always draw much closer to us and help us in hard times.
