Tuesday 23 July Leviticus 23. 1-22 Qn. 1,4
These are the appointed feasts of the LORD, the holy convocations, which you shall proclaim at the time appointed for them (4): These were the days to meet their God and worship him, glorify him, and resolve to obey him more. We, too, should know that every day we celebrate is not a religious ceremony, but a way to draw closer to the Holy God. For seven days you shall eat unleavened bread (6): The Feast of unleavened bread reminded the Israelites of how God brought them out of Egypt (Exodus 12.14,15). There are three lessons we learn from the unleavened bread: 1. That bread was special, so the Israelites had to remember that they were special people chosen by God. 2. Leaven symbolized sin, so the Israelites were to have a perfect life and a holy life. 3. To cook and eat these breads and immediately leave Egypt, showed the effort, and the strength that a person must use, to get out of sin. Question: Is there no leaven in your home that causes you to live in a way that does not glorify God? Song 86 Salvation.
