Tuesday 2 January John 1.15-28 Qn.1,2
For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. (17): Jesus in our lives, brought us grace and truth. The light of Jesus made us understand the laws of Moses, enabling us to fullfil them through him, and this brought us grace upon grace. Jesus sets us free indeed, he saves us without any pay ( Isaiah.55.1-2; John. 18.36). He made us see God in him, something that had never happened before (Exodus 33.20). I am the voice of one crying out in the wilderness, (23): John understood well the boundaries of his calling. His works including baptizing, was preparing people’s hearts prior to the initiation of Jesus’ ministry. Though he was older than him physically, he understood well that the one to come was King. Thus John wasn’t even worthy to untie Jesus’ sandals. Warning: If God gives you some gifts to do his work, never make yourself arrogant or compare yourself to Christ who gave you the gifts or even your leaders at the church. Song 121 (Praises)
