Tuesday 15th July Acts 18.18-28
Qn. 1
…, And with him Priscilla and Aquila….(18): For one and a half years Paul spent in Corinth (Acts 18.11), Paul was hosted by this family. Even if at first their relationships were based on what they had in common as Jews and tentmakers, and yet Priscilla and Aquila ended up believing in Jesus and becoming Paul’s disciples and close friends. Good relationships and genuine testimony are vital in evangelism. Jesus said that his disciples will be identified by their love for one another (Jn. 13.35). Today’s church needs this ingredient for the people to believe when they hear the gospel. Now a Jew named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus,…(24): Apollos had the passion to take the gospel to other people, he had been taught about Jesus and also had special gifts like 1) He was brilliant and audible, 2) Knowledgeable in the Scriptures; 3) Good teacher. However, he had a big issue as he solely knew the baptism of John the Baptist (Mt. 3.1; Acts 19.4). Reading the Scriptures is important for a Christian, yet it requires consistence and prayer. Consider: The teachings about strategic reading of the Word of God make one a good teacher.
