Tuesday 12th August Matthew 21.33-45
Qn. 2
…”The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; …(42): Jesus is the Cornerstone (Ps. 118.22-23). If Jesus had not sacrificed himself for our sins, the relationship between man and God wouldn’t have been restored. These prophets had hardened their hearts and denied Jesus, the Son of God. However, as the parable teaches us, Jesus is the stone the priests rejected. Let’s also check whether we have accepted Jesus, or rejected him like the priests of his time. The word of God requests us to accept Jesus if we have to become God’s children (Jn. 1.12-13). Those who reject God’s way, become prone to death (44), as there is no life wherever there is no God. God is the one who give life (Rom. 6.23). Even if the priests understood that they were the ones Jesus was talking about (45), they did not repent, they hardened their hearts even more (46). If a person hardens her of his heart on and on, finally God may abandon him. Let’s always avoid anything that may lead us to hardness of our hearts. Prayer: Pray for those people who cling to religious practices and yet don’t believe in Jesus.
