Tuesday 10th June Acts 11.19-30
Qn. 3
And the hand of the Lord with them, and a great number who believed turned to the Lord (21): Even if the early church passed through difficult times, with persecution among others, it was never discouraged. Instead, it kept on preaching the gospel to Jews and Gentiles (19-22). God was with them, and there could be more new believers. In the midst of suffering and trials, God can bring out the good for his people (Rom. 8.28). When he came and saw the grace of God, he was glad, and he exhorted them all to remain faithful to the Lord with steadfast purpose (23): When the church at Jerusalem knew that the good news had been shared in Antioch, it sent Barnabas there to affirm and teach the new believers. This is the great commission which Jesus left the church with (Mat. 28.19-20). Preaching the gospel is a responsibility for every Christian. Consider: These days, the church needs exemplary Christians who are strong enough in the faith, for them to train and strengthen others in their faith.
