Thursday 4 July Leviticus 17.1-16 Qn .2

July 4, 2024 - July 5, 2024

If any one of the house of Israel (3): God’s law was addressing Aaron, his sons and all Israelites (2). Who ever kills an animal in an unknown place had to add or to substract on the law applicable to slaughted sacrifices. God wanted to protect the Israelites and to keep them far from other worshipers among whom every priest himself could set laws and regulations of sacrifices (Judges 17.6). No person among you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger who sojourns among you eat blood (12): There are three reasons for God to have commended his people not to eat blood: 1. Strangers used to eat blood in order to be more stange and powerful as the animal killed. 2. Blood was to be respected as a great sign of sacrifice,  3. Protecting the life of the people against diseases likely of any contamination since there were a lot of diseases that could be transmitted through blood. Advice: Let’s avoid being stressed by the church teachings that do not lead us to Jesus Christ who alone brings us closer to God not on basis of observing rituals.
