Thursday 4 January John 1.43-51 Qn.2,3

January 4, 2024 - January 5, 2024

…. we have found him of whom Moses in the Law and also the prophets wrote, (45): Like his predecessors, when Philip was called by Jesus he followed him with no hesitation. Seeing Jesus was enough to him, so he went to find Nathanael. Philip told Nathanael that the one they had seen was extraordinary, the big issue to Nathanael’s was to understand whether Christ could have come from Nazareth. Every time you preach, never be discouraged by those people who speak as they feel; because convincing people about Jesus is not our work; that is the work of the Holy Spirit (John 16.13-14). Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit! (47): Jesus looked at Nathanael’s heart and found no hypocrisy. He spoke the truth as it was in his heart. The fact that Jesus knew him while still under the fig tree, Touched by Jesus’ words, Nathanael asked how this could happen (48-49). All this made him know that he was with God who works everywhere, and knows even the hidden; that even Nazareth could be the origin of the Messiah, King of Israel (49). Jesus knows you well, and there is no need for him to gather information from anyone else. Consider: the time you follow Jesus you will get even more than what has been expressed here (John.1.50). Song 38 (Praises)
