Thursday 28th August Job 10.1-22
Qn. 1
“I will say to God, Do not condemn me; let me know why you contend against me (2): God’s character is in such a way that he never wishes to inflict suffering on anyone (Lam. 3.32-33). Even if Job asks while in sorrow, yet he is not angry. He knows well where he came from (8-12; Ps. 139.14, 16). Since God knows us before we were born, and even after, and in the days to come; no other person knows about it, it’s his secret alone. Someone who knows God from that perspective cannot sin against him. Job’s friends could be so much mistaken about him, yet they caused him to lobe his Creator even more. “And were my head lifted up, you would hurt me like a lion and again work wonders against me (16): Job had trials repeatedly, one after another, and at the time he would be at rest, harsh words could explode there and then. While he had nowhere to turn for help, he found himself like a sheep lost in the jungle (2 Cor. 1.8-10). We are secured by God’s mercy (2 Cor. 1.20-22). We should always remember that we are sharing suffering with Christ (Col. 1.24; 1 Pet. 4.13). Consider: Our heroes in the Bible, whom we take as our example in terms of faith passed through suffering, since that’s what shapes our glory to be revealed, and we are always rescued by the one who suffered the most (Heb. 2.18).
