Thursday 21st August Job 3.1-26
Qn. 3, 6
Let the day perish on which I was born, and the night that said, ‘A man is conceived’ (3): Job has a point to say these words. If he hadn’t been born, he would have been at rest (13). He could have imagined that all would have been well with him had he not been born. Even if there is a secret that has been hidden from us; Job thought that he would have been with great people if he had not been born (14). He could have probably been with the wealth people who had not lost their property (15). Whenever we celebrate out birthdays, let’s always thank God who brought us to the earth, to look at his created beings and enjoy them (Gen. 1.26). “For the thing that I fear comes upon me…(25): We make good projects and Satan overturns them. Job looks at God and feels like he has forsaken him (23). As much as Job thought he could always be praising God all the time, enjoying his love in him, but now comes what he feared, and he doesn’t find any reason behind that. However, Job doesn’t attribute that to God, because he knows that God cannot be the author of his suffering whatsoever (11-13). Reflection: What do you think would separate you from the love of God? (Rom. 8.35-39).
