Sunday 8th June Acts 10.23b-48
Qn. 1, 2
But Peter lifted him up, saying, “Stand up; I too am a man.” (26): Cornelius wanted to give respect to Peter because he considered him to be superior to him. Peter quickly raised him up as he knew very well that only God was worthy respect. Nowadays, there are people who seek equal respect with God, and they forget that God declared that he will not share his glory with anyone (Is. 42. 8). When Peter was still saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell on all who heard the word (44): After listening to Cornelius testimony, it was revealed to Peter that God shows no partiality (34), and proceed with proclamation of the works of Jesus, how he died and resurrected, and the Holy Spirit fell on all those who were listening to him (36-44). These surprised the Jews who were with Peter. The fact that even the Gentiles got filled with the Holy Spirit in the same manner as the Apostles was proof that Jesus came to save all people of the world and turn them into God’s children (Rom. 8.14). Consider: The Holy Spirit lives in the hearts of those who believe in Jesus Christ. Song 107 (Praises).
