Sunday 7 July Psalm 72: 1-20 Qn. 2

Let the mountains bear prosperity for the people, and the hills, in righteousness! (3):  Full peace (Shalom) is what all people worldwide need, and even the world greatest leaders do. They strive for it, even though the means they use in order to get peace are not likely to succeed because they are of human nature and thus with some limitations. This Psalm shows us the right path that the king followed to get peace that would spread throughout the country. That path is righteousness, justice, helping the humble and ensuring security in the country. Being kind and merciful to all people, especially the poor, is the source of lasting peace and security. Let us pray for leaders at all levels, so that they know this secret, which alone can bring them peace and strength (11), rendering the whole country calm and overly productive, because God will bless it (16). Full peace for us, as God’s people, is found in Jesus Christ (Zech.9.10). Pray: God, I ask you for peace that the world does not give but the one from Jesus Christ to reach all your people.
