Sunday 7 January John 3.1-12 Qn.1

This man came to Jesus by night (2): Nicodemus was one of the members of Jewish council (John 7.50-51). He personally decided to go to find Jesus, because there seemed to be much that was not clear to him. He went by night probably for fear of being discovered by his fellow leaders; whom he knew did not believe in Jesus. As usual, Jesus warmly welcomed him and helped him to really understand what was a query for him. Every Christian has to kindly welcome those who come to approach them, taking this good example of Jesus welcoming Nicodemus. Unless one is born  again, he cannot see the kingdom of God (3): in Nicodemus thinking, it was impossible to be born for the second time but Jesus never ran short of solutions to whatever problems people could bring to him (Luke 9.46-47). Immediately Jesus discovered Nicodemus’ puzzle and explained it to him. We have to always remember that when a person is born in the flesh and not in the Spirit, he only grows up in the flesh aspect. That person will do what is different from what God wishes him to do. (Gal.5.17). Which is born by the Spirit is spirit. (6). Consider: Being born again is not about us, it’s God’s Grace (Rom.8.9-11).
