Sunday 31st August Job 13.1-28

August 31

Qn. 1, 6

“What you know, I also know; I am not inferior to you (2): Job realized that his friends were deceived that no one else knew God so well like them. We have a merciful God to all people good and bad alike; he sustains the lives of all creatures. He is the one who is able to give life as well as take it away. Failure to believe in him is lack of wisdom (4-5), it’s better to remain silent rather than talk falsely about him, since that would burn his anger against us, let him be proclaimed by those who have met him and really known him so well (13). “Though he slay me, I will hope in him; yet I will argue my ways to his face (15): Such a word is one of wonderful declarations in relation to one’s trust in God’s plans for welfare, things never mentioned and beyond one’s belief. Job believed that even if he died, God would not forsake him. Paul showed that he believed in God’s love for his people (Rom. 8.1). Even if Satan can rob all our support, whereby our lives may be shaken, and some storms may engulf us, yet the power of Jesus’ death and resurrection strengthens us. Consider: Nothing can separate us from God (Rom. 8.37-39).
