Sunday 29th June Hosea 3.1-5

And the LORD said to me, “Go again, love a woman who is loved by another man and is an adulterous,….(1): The first time God commanded Hosea to take to himself a woman of whoredom to remind his people who had forsaken him that they were no longer his people, and that he also wasn’t their God any longer. This time he takes her again to let them know that he loves them despite their love for foreign gods. For the children of Israel shall dwell many days without king or prince,…(4): When God said that he will take them to the wilderness to allure them was the time they could do without a king or prince, and through suffering they could probably remember their God and return to him. Afterward the children of Israel shall return and seek the LORD their God,….(5): The prophet Hosea goes on with his message promising that the Israelites will eventually return to the LORD. The LORD God never leaves a sinner to die, but awaits the opportunity for him to turn from his way and live (Ezek. 18.23). The fact that God’s people had so much strayed away and worshipped idols did not stop God from loving them. Warning: Never wait until trials come your way for you to seek and serve God.
