Sunday 28 January Amos 6.1-14 Qn.2,6
“Woe to those who are at ease in Zion, and to those who feel secure on the mountain of Samaria …(1): Feeling secure may be explained in two ways: 1. Feeling secure by getting involved in the things you enjoy in life and trying to put your worries aside. In this way your worries have not gone anywhere, rather you have only ignored them. 2. Feeling secure by following Jesus to save you and casting all your worries unto him: This way of feeling secured brings real comfort, and is the best way for Christians. It only happens when you leave it all to Jesus and fully surrender yourself to him (Mathew 11.28-30). The Israelites and Samaritans did not realize that God alone could solve all their problems, and they started finding other ways to make themselves feel secured. Even Christians of today tend to find their own ways and forget that Jesus is the only Savior they need …Have we not by our own strength captured Karnaim for ourselves?” (13): Every man created by God has the responsibility to use what he has given him or her to Honor and glorify Him, and not for one’s self praise. Consider: God opposes the arrogant and gives grace to the humble (1Pet. 5.5). Song 101 (Praises)
