Sunday 2 June Leviticus 4.22-35 Qn.6

June 2, 2024 - June 3, 2024

“When a leader sins, doing unintentionally any one of all the things that by the commandments of the Lord his God ought not to be done (22): it began with the priest, now comes the turn of the leader.  A King or a leader may look great and be respected by people but God will not ignore their sin based on the fact that they are honored. God has no favoritism; whoever sinned had to repent, pay the atonement in order to be forgiven (26). These sacrifices were for some one who had committed sin unintentionally; sin committed intentionally is not considered here. If anyone of the common people sins unintentionally he shall bring for his offering a goat, a female without blemish, (27-28): The sacrifice for common people seemed to be simple, but it was a sign that even the common person would be requested to repent. Some people think that hard life would make God tolerant enough to ignore the sins of poor and needy people. Sufferings on earth should not be taken as compensation; the poor and humbled should also repent and pay the atonement for their sin (35).
