Sunday 17th August Psalm 99.1-9
Qn. 4
The Lord reigns; let the peoples tremble! He sits enthroned upon the cherubim; let the earth quake! (1): Some commentators suggest that this psalm was written by David, and it closes a series of kingship psalms which prophesy the reign of Jesus Christ the Messiah. God’s reign on earth is not the idea of this psalmist alone, instead other various writers both in the Old Testament and the New Testament mentioned the same in their teachings (2 Chr. 13.12; Is. 35.5). Jesus also affirms that he was anointed for that mission (Luke 4.16-19). Make sure that you strive to take part in that kingdom (Luke 12.32). Moses and Aaron were among his priests; Samuel also was among those who called upon his name. They called to the LORD, and he answered them (6): Moses, Aaron, and Samuel were all intercessors before God, and they all experienced God’s miracles. Samuel witnessed God punishing Eli’s family (1Sam. 2.33-36), Moses witnessed God fighting for his people (Ex. 17.14-15), whereas Aaron witnessed God’s favor as he chose him to be a priest (Lev. 8.6-9). God is still manifesting himself even today (Is. 59.1-2). Reflection: Have you ever witnessed God’s providence in your life?
