Saturday 9th August Matthew 21.1-11
Qn. 2
“Say to the daughter of Zion, ‘Behold, your king is coming to you, humble, and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, ……(5): This had been prophesied by the prophet Zechariah (9.9). He was referring to our Lord Jesus who was to humble himself and come to redeem us. Commentators suggest that in the Israelites’ custom, donkeys were meant to be used during the time of peace, whereas horses could be used during war (Ps. 20.12). Even if Jesus is the King of kings, yet he entered Jerusalem mounted on a colt. This is a sign of Jesus’ humility, and as an indication that his kingdom was different from the world view perception. Nowadays, as much as it becomes hard for some of God’s people to humble themselves, yet Jesus set us the example right from birth (Luke 2.7). Consider: Jesus is the Prince of peace, so let us learn from him.
