Saturday 8 June Leviticus 8.1-17 Qn.3
Take Aaron and his sons with him, and the garments and the anointing oil (2): Anointing the priests involved a lot of ritual directives to be followed and it was to be done publicly (3). Moses could take account of all the requirements with passion because priestly service was an assignment that God always followed up. Moses did everything as God had ordered, and ensured that every step and every work has been done correctly (4,9,13,17). And Moses brought Aaron and his sons and washed them with water (6): Moses did not order them to do it themselves. He personally washed them, clothed them with white garments, set apart for their service, and these included Urim and Thamim to consult (8), and the turban on his head to show that one had been anointed (9) before starting God’s work. Priests should always be clean and wearing garments that represent their sanctification. Warning: A true Christian should always stay sanctified and bear good fruits (Matt. 3.7).
