Saturday 7th June Acts 10.1-23a

Qn. 1

“Your prayers and your aims have ascended as a memorial before God (4b): Cornelius who was among the Gentiles (he was not a Jew), was devoted to God and could also observe the traditions of Judaism (1-2). God heard his prayer and send him an angel as messenger. The more we seek God, the more he reveals himself to us in return (Prov. 8 17.17-21). And the voice came to him again a second time, “What God has made clean, do not call common.” (15): In his vision, Peter saw animals of all kinds, clean and unclean, and was commanded to eat them; yet as he was very careful about observance of the law, he didn’t obey right away. However, the Holy Spirit convinced him that what he considered as unclean had been made clean by God. This cleansing of the unclean has two meanings: All things God created for people to eat are good, and none should be discarded (1 Tim. 4.3-5); 2) The fact that Peter had accepted to host Cornelius’ messengers was a step for him to accept Gentiles. That kind of relationships was not allowed in Jewish traditions. Praise God that we as Gentiles have also been included in his promise (Eph. 3.4-6). Song 49 (Praises).
