…,They stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing that he was dead (19): This was done inside the city contrary to where it used to be done, outside the city (7.58). In ancient times, the scars in Greek tradition; could be a sign of belonging on a slave or an animal. Here are some of Paul’s afflictions: Being stoned (14.19); being spanked (16.22; 2 Kor. 11.25); sickness (2 Cor. 12.7), showing that he was a slave to Christ. During our time today, do you have anything that identifies you as Christian, which mark does it have? (14.1). And when they had appointed elders for them in every church,….(23): One meaning of “appointed” in Greek is appoint or choose without any rules, as these were new churches that had been established by people who had heathen practices. Could be that Paul and Barnabas were the founders and also the ones who deployed the leaders there. Prayer Request: Pray for the church leaders to be guided by the Holy Spirit as they appoint partners in the ministry, so that the gospel may not meet any hindrance (6.3). song 195 (Praises).
