Q 3
“Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak tenderly to her (14): After hardening their hearts, God gave them in the hands of the Assyrian king in 722 BC, who destroyed Samaria and took the Israelites captive (2 Kings 17.1-6). This happened in order for the Israelites to listen to God and obey him while in the land where he was taking them. “And in that day, declares the LORD, you will call me ‘My Husband,’ and no longer will you call me ‘My Baal.’ (16a): Ish is a Hebrew name which means ‘husband’, whereas the wife is called ‘Isha’. One of the tribes of Israel did not send away the Canaanites in the land they had conquered, instead they lived with them there (Jos. 16.10; 17.12). The Israelites started worshipping the idols Baal and Asher, which they believed could provide them with fertility and children, and they took them as their gods. However, they had no reason to confuse their God because he had clearly revealed himself to them (Ex. 3.13-15). During your time of peace, never forget your God who gave it to you after taking you out of Satan’s grip. Consider: There are a lot things which prove to us that our God is a true God. Please share your testimony with the people around you. Song 97 (Praises).
