Saturday 27 July Leviticus 25. 23-55 Qn.3

July 27, 2024 - July 28, 2024

The land shall not be sold in perpetuity, for the land is mine. For you are strangers and sojourners with me (23): God had a plan to protect the land he gave to the Israelites, so that they could use it properly. In Egypt, the land belonged to the king of that country (Gen. 47.13-26). So it didn’t have to be the same in Israel. No Israelite had the right to sell the land he owned. This was for three reasons; 1. Protecting the land in families, so that they could continue to pass it down from generation to generation. 2. To prevent anyone from monopolizing land when others did not. 3. Let the Israelites continue to live together where they had land, and see how they could continue to respect God and follow His laws. Advice: If you feel poor, know that there is more behind you who are poorer than you, so do something with the little you have. It is said that, “being greedy for few  things, they never last long !” Request: Pray for God’s people who have land, to use it in a way that benefits them, and for those who don’t have it to get some. Song. 2 (Praises).
