June 21

Qn. 1

And they said to Jephthah, “Come and be our leader; that we may fight against the Ammonites” (6): Jephthah was considered by his brothers as a worthless child in the family because he had been born of a concubine (1), but he was the son of Gilead from the tribe of Manasseh. Could be that the people he gathered together when he was a fugitive were worthless fellows who could be agents of insecurity to other people.(3). Praise God that he sometimes chooses the ordinary to use them to do great things. God chose Joseph also from prison and made him a chief in Egypt (Gen. 41.41-42), whereas David was chose when he was a shepherd (1 Sam. 16.11-13). Do you ever remember where Jesus found you when he chose you? Kindly share that with the people around you. And are you to take possession of them? (23b): The LORD gave them the land of Canaan using the hand of Joshua, and after they has spent 300 years there; the king of Amorites thought that he could easily take it away from them (26-28). However, the LORD is always defending his people; he doesn’t care about the counsel of the wicked. Consider: “When the unclean spirit goes out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, and finding none it says, “I will return to my house from which I came’ (Luke 11.24). Song 426 (Praises).
