Saturday 12th July Acts 17.1-15

July 12

Qn. 2, 3

“…., and they are all acting against the decrees of Caesar, ………(7): This was a terrible accusation against Paul and Silas while on their missionary work in Thessalonica. They wanted to show that accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior would imply supporting another king taken to be greater than Caesar. As a matter of fact that was the same accusation against Jesus, whom they thought was claiming to be king (Mat. 5.11-12). (11): We have some characteristics to emulate from the Berea believers namely: 1) Listening to the word of God; 2) Reading the Scriptures themselves to ensure that what they had been taught was in agreement with biblical truth. The writer of the book “Shepherd God’s flock” (page 43) said that the Word of God is the real measure upon which all other lessons should rely on. Another thing that characterized the people of Berea was their support to God’s people in their ministry (20.4). Consider: Reading the Scriptures should be a weapon for each and every Christian.
