Saturday 10 February John 8.31-47 Qn.2,3

If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, (31): Jesus continued the conversation with those who had believed in him. Believing in Jesus doesn’t mean reaching one’s destination, but rather starting a purposeful journey. Jesus used words such as “…you will become my disciples…”, this means that if someone believes in Jesus and welcomes him in his life, he or she immediately becomes his or her disciple, who has to abide in his word. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. (32): The Jews thought of the freedom of their bodies, but Jesus informed them that it was about slavery by sin (35). Don’t we sometimes not understand the Good news preached in our churches, and doesn’t this slow down our spiritual growth? Pray: Father God, help me to fully surrender myself to Jesus, in order to really understand your word. Song 361 (Praises)
