Monday 7th July Acts 15.12-29
Qn. 2
“Therefore my judgment is that we should not trouble those of the Gentiles who turn to God (19): James the brother of Jesus and a pillar in the church of Jerusalem (Gal. 1.19; 2.9), realized that salvation was a free gift received through faith in Jesus Christ, and thus concluded not to trouble anymore the Gentile believers. “But should write to them to abstain from the things polluted by idols,…(20): As the Gentiles had been used to the worship of idols, those who believed could better renounce that custom, lest their hearts be defiled (1 Cor. 8.7). It would always be advisable for anyone who becomes a Christian to get rid of anything that might displease God and which might cause him to decline. Among others are vulgar words, peer pressure, and so on (Ps. 1.1).
