Monday 2nd June Psalm 97.1-12

The LORD reigns, let the earth rejoice; let the many coastlands be glad! (1): The psalmist says that the LORD reigns, and therefore the whole earth must rejoice. Several writers in the Bible have tackled the subject of God’s reign, and have stated that oppression will be put to an end (Is. 9.1-6). As for Paul, he says that when Jesus reigns, we shall reign with him (2 Tim. 2.11-12). John talks about what life will look like during Jesus’ reign (Rev. 21.4). Do you ever have hope to live with Jesus in the kingdom of heaven? The heavens proclaim his righteousness, and all the peoples see his glory (6): No doubt that it’s Jesus Christ being talked about here, because at his birth, the stars in the skies and the angels proclaimed his birth (Luke 2.10-11), and even at his return there will be signs in the skies (Mat. 24.29-30). It’s sad that the people today live as if life ends here on earth, and even some churches lo longer preach about the second coming of Jesus.
