Monday 29 January Amos 7.1-17 Qn.1,2

January 29, 2024 - January 30, 2024

Then I said, “O Lord God, please cease!  How can Jacob stand? He is so small?” (5): Amos’ loud voice calling upon God was of high value and God heard him, it didn’t happen only once but twice pleading for Jacob to be rescued (2-8). This shows us that our God listens to our prayer, and that there is a lot that gets removed out of our way when we humble ourselves before him (Proverbs.15.29). …Go, prophesy to my people Israel (15): Amos was a shepherd and a farmer who used to grow Olives, and God selected him to prophesy to his nation (14-15). King Amaziah wanted to silence Prophet Amos or to divert this prophecy according to his emotions. In this difficult time Amos was not afraid to prophesy and to say what God had sent him for (17). Sometimes Christians are afraid of the people around them, and fail to deliver the message from God; but if you have listened to the Holy Spirit talking to you, do not hesitate to deliver whatever he tells you. What you have to always avoid is lying or speaking what God has not sent you for. Song 77 (Praises)
