Monday 28th July Judges 19.1-15

July 28

Qn. 1, 6

In those days, when there was no king in Israel, a certain Levite was sojourning in the remote parts….(1): There is no doubt that the Israelites had no king, which the writer of the book sees as a big issue, because he repeats it over and over again (18.1; 17.6). Those who have Jesus in their lives are blessed because they have a Lord who never dies. Could be that as there was no king, even the priesthood was no longer carried out, as people could leave to search for a living elsewhere (8-9). There was another Levite who moved to Ephraim and got married to a woman in Bethlehem of Judah; then the wife could sleep with other men until she had to leave the husband’s house and go to her father’s house. The word of God doesn’t allow believers to divorce ( 1 Cor. 7.10). Then the husband arose and went after her,….(3): Even if the wife committed sin that could lead to her dismissal, the husband was good enough and went to bring her back home. Jesus also put our sins upon himself and we were forgiven (Is. 53.5). Consider: Whatever the situation maybe, ensure that you lead a righteous life.
