Monday 25th August Job 7.1-21

August 25

Qn. 1, 3

“Therefore I will not restrain my mouth; I will speak in the anguish of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul (11): Job is addressing God repugnantly yet for no sound reason. He focuses mainly on his pain caused by his loss: children, wealth, health, and in addition his wife and friends he could trust are accusing him instead of strengthening him. All people are mocking him (2.9; 6.14, 21-23). Job tested many kinds of pain (4, 13-14)Z: Rejection, being offended by others, and neglect. To him, long lasting is no longer of any use (16). “If I sin, what do I do to you, you watcher of mankind?….(20): When Job thought about Eliphaz’s words, he said to God, “If I sin what do I do to you…? He knows quite well that God is pleased with him, and he also doesn’t feel guilty of anything (1 Jn. 3.21). People look at you from their character perspective, so does God; and you also know yourself so well. That’s God’s secret alone, no person can really know the other. In all things Job avoided sin (13.15). Advice: We surely can shun away from evil through knowing God, getting known by him, as well as knowing ourselves.
