Monday 24 June Leviticus 12.1-8 Qn7
“…If a woman conceives and bears a male child, then she shall be unclean seven days. As at the time of her menstruation, she shall be unclean.” (2): God relates giving birth for the women as the menstruation for girls since both cases involve same kind of body discharge. By the time they had no pads as today’s materials, God protected women and girls by preventing them from being in public places. This was meant to avoid any exposure where people could see their unclean bodies, and also to exempt them from heavy duties. This law entailed more of God’s love rather than treating ladies with contempt as some people tend to think. And if she cannot afford a lamb, then she shall take two turtledoves or two pigeons, (8): what a humble heart of our lord! The time they brought him in church, Joseph and Mary brought two pigeons as they were too poor to afford a lamb (Luke 2:24). Pray: Father God, enable me to always give you praise in all situations.
