Monday 22 July Leviticus 22. 17-33 Qn. 2

July 22, 2024 - July 23, 2024

You may present a bull or a lamb that has a part too long or too short for a freewill offering, (23): God must be respected as God, the Sovereign of all things, so that what we intend to give to him will have the value it deserves. To redeem us, he agreed to give his only Son; who gave his life for us (Eph. 3.18-19). You shall sacrifice it so that you may be accepted (29): God did not want the Israelites to sacrifice to him in imitation of others, or to seek the praise of men. There are 5 things that should have helped the Israelites to do this work with joy: 1. Knowing that they were doing it for the Lord God who had all the authority (30; Isa.42.8). 2. Knowing that God was very Holy and had the ability to save and protect them (32a), 3. Knowing that they were holy and chosen by the Lord, so that they should worship and praise him (32b). (4). Knowing that it was God who brought them out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery (33a). 5. To know that he agreed to be their God, so they also had to become his special people (33b). Warning: May verse 32 prevent us from using God’s name as we please. Song. 11 (Praises).
