Monday 22 January Amos 1.1-2.3 Qn.1
The Lord roars from Zion and utters his voice from Jerusalem (2): the message about the roars of the Lord is not unique to the prophet Amos, but rather shared with prophet Joel (Joel 4.16). The only difference between the two prophets Amos and Joel is that during tht time of Joel, Lord will roar in defense of Israel, whereas during the time of Amos, the Lord will roar against Israel. …Two years before the earthquake (1): Some people suggest that there had been no earthquake during those times, but mere comparison of how God would punish Israel. Prophet Zechariah also compared the punishment of God as the earthquake that broke out during the reign of King Uzziah (Zech.14.4-5). Being punished by the hand of God is scary, hence our need for sanctification, so that by the time Jesus comes back to judge, we may stand firm and undefeated by God’s judgement. Consider: Our God is able to provide an army to save us. Song 27 (Praises)
