Monday 18th August Psalm 100.1-5
Qn. 4
Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth! (1): This is one of the so much loved psalms; that people even sing it in Sunday services. It’s one of David’s psalms that invite all people of the earth to praise God. In particular, this psalm calls upon the people on earth to serve the LORD with gladness. The prophet Habakkuk asserts that nothing can ever prevent him from rejoicing in the LORD or take away his joy (Hab. 3.17-19). Joy is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit (Gal. 5.22). During this week when we shall be reflecting on the ministry achievements of Scripture Union, we wish you to join others to rejoice in the LORD, with singing and dancing. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! (4): This psalm tells us how they had to enter God’s home, which was the tent of meeting where they could worship the LORD from, with offerings at that time. During our time, we should be entering our churches (places of worship) with gladness and praises to God. Consider: Those who still have the freedom to worship together in their churches should be glad about it.
