Monday 16th June Acts 13.42-52

June 16

Qn. 3

But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and began to contradict what was spoken by Paul, reviling him (45): The exhortations of Paul and Barnabas gave were fruitful as a lot of people had more desire to listen to the word of God. Surprisingly the Jews became jealous (43-45). Satan is never pleased when God’s work is progressing, and that’s why God’s people in his service face trials. Jesus also was tempted as scribes and Pharisees were always testing him and looking for means to kill him (Mar. 3.5-7). As much as you experience a lot of hardships in God’s service, be strong and never give up. And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed (48): As the gospel came from the Jews, that’s where Paul started from. However, the Jews did not believe in him, and that’s why he turned to the Gentiles (46-47). Praise God that from long ago God had planned to give salvation to the Gentiles through his son Jesus Christ (Gal. 3.8). Reflection: Do you ever consider the value of the salvation you have received (Eph. 2.11-12). Song 48 (Praises).
