Monday 11th August Matthew 21.23-32

August 11

Qn. 2, 7

…, “Truly, I say to you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes go into the kingdom of God before you (31): The chief priests, the scribes, and heads of the Jewish families, were the ones who were asking Jesus where he had got his authority from. These were the people who could have known before any other person; that Jesus was the Messiah whom the prophets had prophesied about. However, the world views which promote sin had enslaved them, and they refused to let go their self-glory in order to give the glory to God. They asked him a question (23), for which they knew the answer, but they failed to accept the truth. It was simply testing him. As Jesus could see people’s hearts, he knew the truth they were hiding him (24). Those people they considered as sinners such as tax collectors and prostitutes had accepted and received the truth, and had been accepted by God who can take away the sin of whoever seeks for salvation (32). Salvation is not for any particular group of people, Jesus is always calling upon everyone to repent and turn away from sin, and thus get saved. Prayer: Lord Jesus, enable me to take the gospel to others, so that they believe in you, follow you, as well as serve you.
