Monday 1 January John 1.1-14 Qn.2

In the beginning was the Word (1) : The world and all things therein are the work of God’s hand, for there is nothing that was not made by him (3). That same God is whom John called the Word. The Word is Jesus, he was with God when everything was created. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. (5) : John points out that there was a problem in Jesus’ welcome, he came as light shining in the darkness, but the darkness repelled the light. Another issue is that he came into the world and the world ignored him and he came into his own but his own people did not receive him. Do you ever remember to pray for those who remain in the darkness, refusing to receive the Word? But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right  to become children of God, (12) : John shows that those who received the Word, were given a new name, they are called children of God. That is why we who have been transformed and received a new identity, will be like Jesus when he appears. (1 John.3.2). Pray: God the creator of everything, we accept all of our weakness. May your light shine upon us, so that we may walk in your light forever. Song 154 (Praises).
